Did you know? Ancient versions of ε…₯ were drawn as a simple picture of something moving into an opening. More than 3,000 years later, the kanji still looks remarkably similar. It's one of the easiest examples of an ancient pictograph surviving into modern Japanese.

Memory Trick

The shape ε…₯ looks a narrow cave entrance. ⚠️ Beware of mixing this kanji with δΊΊ- Person Kanji.
