Four

よん (yon), よっ(つ) (yottsu)

JLPT N5

Interesting Fact

In some Japanese hospitals, hotels, and apartment buildings, you'll notice something strange: there is no fourth floor. The reason is simple. One reading of four, shi, sounds exactly like the word for death (死).

Memory Trick

The number is trapped inside a box with four sides around it. That's 四.
