Interesting Fact
A kakejiku (掛け軸) is a traditional Japanese hanging scroll used to display calligraphy or paintings. 🖼️ What's fascinating is that it isn't normally meant to stay on the wall permanently. A scroll can be carefully rolled up and stored, then brought out for a particular season, ceremony, or occasion. A tea-room might display a different scroll depending on the time of year or the mood of a gathering. Japanese art could therefore be temporary and changeable, rather than something permanently decorating the room.
