Modern Japanese pop culture has a completely different use of 推し (oshi), meaning a person or character you strongly support or are a fan of. ❤️ Although 推 is a different kanji from 押, the pronunciation is the same. Japanese fans might talk passionately about their oshi—their favorite idol, singer, actor, or fictional character. So be careful: 押す means "push," while 推し is your beloved favorite!
