Interesting Fact

Japanese has the word 居場所 (いばしょ), literally “a place where one is,” but its meaning goes much deeper. It can describe a place where someone feels comfortable, accepted, and like they belong. A child might talk about finding their 居場所 at school, while an adult might search for their 居場所 in a community or workplace. This gives 居 an interesting emotional side: it isn't only about physically being somewhere—it can also describe having a place where you feel you belong.
