Interesting Fact
In traditional Japanese rooms, seating arrangements could quietly communicate status and respect. The position known as 上座 (kamiza)—literally the “upper seat”—was reserved for the most important or honored person, while 下座 (shimoza) was associated with the lower-ranking position.
