JLPT N4

Interesting Fact

One of “Sen no Rikyū's” most memorable innovations was the nijiriguchi, a tiny entrance to the tea room. 🚪 It was deliberately made so guests had to bend down and crawl inside, regardless of their social rank. Even powerful warriors had to leave their swords outside and enter humbly. A tiny doorway was therefore being used to create a very specific social purpose: inside the tea room, status was supposed to be left at the door.

Memory Trick

A carpenter builds a wooden fence by fitting the pieces together—now you can “USE” it! That's 用!
